A Comprehensive Handbook

Our goal in publishing this handbook was very ambitious I wanted to produce the [Pg.2]

For each industry, we will explain — in detail — how, why, when, and where adhesives and sealants are, or may be, used for various assemblies all the techniques, types of adhesives and sealants, materials, and applications that are available or possible in a given industry, together with case studies, examples, cost calculations, design tips, and suggestions for future applications. [Pg.3]

So in total I have identified some 80-90 chapters, a huge handbook of some 3,000 pages, which will be split into a series of 7 or 8 volumes — each one 350-500 pages — that will be published over a period of 4 years. This will make it more feasible and economical from the readers standpoint (because they may buy only the volumes which deal with their business and the issues they have in mind) as every chapter will be published immediately after being written because the scientific and technical knowledge may become obsolete after 10 years or so. [Pg.3]

Each chapter also provides lists of standards, testing methods, suppliers, and of course, an extensive bibliography for those who wish to learn more about specific, theoretical, scientific issues. [Pg.3]

A Unique Feature of This Handbook Is the Fact that the Readers May Use it in Four Different Ways [Pg.3]

Butadiene is primarily shipped in pressurized containers via railroads or tankers. U.S. shipments of butadiene, which is classified as a flammable compressed gas, are regulated by the Department of Transportation (254). Most other countries have adopted their own regulations (30). Other information on the handling of butadiene is also available (255). As a result of the extensive emphasis on proper and timely responses to chemical spills, a comprehensive handbook from the National Fire Protection Association is available (256). [Pg.349]

The use of macrocyclic antibiotics as chiral selectors for HPLC was first proposed by Armstrong et al. [50] in 1994. The most successful of the CSPs are based on the glycopeptide antibiotics vancomycin, teicoplanin and ristocetin A and are commercially available through Advanced Separation Technologies Inc. (Astec Inc.) as Chirobiotic V , Chirobiotic 1 and Chirobiotic R , respectively. More recently, a number of other derivatives of these antibiotics have also been developed offering different stereoselectivities. A comprehensive handbook is now available from Astec Inc.
