This hierarchy is called the Born-Green-Yvon (BGY) hierarchy [6,7]. Again the specific case y = 2 is of most interest. [Pg.139]

Sec. 4 is concerned with the development of the theory of inhomogeneous partly quenched systems. The theory involves the inhomogeneous, or second-order, replica OZ equations and the Born-Green-Yvon equation for the density profile of adsorbed fluid in disordered media. Some computer simulation results are also given. [Pg.294]

To the best of our knowledge, there was only one attempt to consider inhomogeneous fluids adsorbed in disordered porous media [31] before our recent studies [32,33]. Inhomogeneous rephca Ornstein-Zernike equations, complemented by either the Born-Green-Yvon (BGY) or the Lovett-Mou-Buff-Wertheim (LMBW) equation for density profiles, have been proposed to study adsorption of a fluid near a plane boundary of a disordered matrix, which has been assumed uniform in a half-space [31]. However, the theory has not been complemented by any numerical solution. Our main goal is to consider a simple model for adsorption of a simple fluid in confined porous media and to solve it. In this section we follow our previously reported work [32,33]. [Pg.330]

Two methods were used to determine the purity of the final material. The ash content was obtained by calculation of a weight loss of 1 g size graphite sample, after its exposure to 900°C for 4 hours (Superior Graphite AIMS procedure FBQ0001). This test gives a good idea of the total amount of impurities. The nature of impurities and their specific concentrations as measured in ppm or ppb levels, was determined with an ICP inductively coupled plasma spectrometer (Model Jobin Yvon Ultima POXX/681,... [Pg.232]

Steady state fluorescence spectra were recorded using a spectrofluorimeter (Fluorolog TCSPC Horiba Jobin Yvon) equipped with a sample holder for solids. [Pg.13]

The chemical composition of the samples was determined using an inductively Coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer (ICP-AES) JY 38 from Jobin Yvon. Specific surface area values were determined by BET method using a Micromeritics Instrument Corp. FlowSorb 2300. The basicity of the materials was studied by temperature programmed desorption (TPD) of C02 used as a probe molecule. The equipment was described in a previous work [7]. FTIR spectra of pellets pressed at 2.5xl08 Pa were recorded with a Vector 22 spectrometer from Brucker. The samples were diluted with KBr (lOOmg KBr - 1.5mg of the sample). [Pg.298]

Integral equation theories are widely used in the theoretical study of liquids. There are two broad classes of integral equation theories those based on the Bom-Green-Yvon (BGY) hierarchy and those based on the Omstein-Zemike (OZ) equation [88]. Although the formalism is exact in both classes, it is generally easier to fashion approximations in the case of the OZ-equation-based approach, and this type of theory has therefore been more popular. Surprisingly, the BGY approach has never been implemented for nonuniform polymers, and this section is therefore restricted to a discussion of the OZ-equation-based approach. [Pg.109]
