Beginning with SAS 9.1, the SAS XML Mapper (previously known as Atlas) is a SAS stand-alone Java application supplied as part of Base SAS. The SAS XML Mapper is a graphical user interface assistant for building SAS XML Map files. The default way of displaying or browsing any XML-compliant language, such as CML, is as a so-called tree view, outlining the structure of the document (Figure 8-1) but to which no style has been applied. Most modern Web browsers will support this feature (we recommend Firefox). 

HTML, which is also a subset of SGML, was developed as a means of transmitting hypertext documents over a network and specifies how a document should be displayed in a Web browser. HTML, however, describes neither the information content of a document nor its manner of organization. XML precisely fills this void by making use of tags and attributes to extend, validate, and unambiguously structure the content of a document. 

COMA++ [Do 2006] automatically generates matchings between source and target schemas (XML or OWL), and draws lines between potentially matching terms (see Fig. 2.2). Users can define their own term matches by interacting with the schema trees. Hovering over a potential correspondence displays a confidence level about the match as a numerical value between zero and one. COMA++... 

The term markup comes from the notion of marking proofs of books, papers, and articles for printing and publication, typically as an editor s way of coding elements that call for special treatment by the typesetter. For example, a pencil might be used to show that a certain part of a mathematical equation, or a reference note, should have been a superscript, as in example superscript jn HTML, this is conveyed by example but displayed as example superscript by internet browser software such as Windows Explorer. The effect of XML is that when converted to HTML, coded data can be easily displayed and in a readable manner. 

The Jmol container in turn transcludes another XML component, defined by the namespace as CML. The Jmol parser reads this into memory, and displays any molecule it detects according to the coordinates it finds. The usual Jmol interface can in turn be used to retrieve the complete CML file (c.f. Figure 7.5). 

The result viewers retrieve the analysis results from the result cache, in order to display or otherwise process them. Results are received from the model analyzer, in the form of XML snippets, the format of which is defined by XML schemas that are part of the results type extension definition. 

The ELBT Program on the CD accompanying the printed volume permits to search, retrieve, display and export the 3316 numerical data sets in the five formats PDF, SELF, ELDATA, and the XML versions of SELF and ELDATA described in Chap. 2.1, 3.5.2, and 3.5.3. The SI units of pressure, temperature, volume and molar energy in the ELDATA numerical and graphical displays may be converted into several practical units. The Program permits in some cases the correlation of the experimental data and the calculation of derived data (Chap. 3.5.6) and save the results of the calculations in separate files (Chap. 3.5.7). 

The files can be saved in a user-defined directory. The default names are LBnnnn S.XML for the SELF display of the primary data, LBnnnn E.XML for the ELDATA display of the primary data, LBnnnnVLC.XML, for the calculated vapor-liquid equilibrium data, and LBnnnnGEC.XML for the calculated excess Gibbs energy data. The XML files can be viewed by means of Microsoft Office Excel 2002 or later. An example is shown in Fig. 3.22. 

All these data files can be displayed from the CD-ROM version of the volume, by means of the ELBT Program in five formats PDF, SELF, ELDATA, and the XML versions of SELF and ELDATA (Chap. 3).
