Worst-case loss data

As the name implies, the technique requires extreme or worst-case loss data, which are generally easy to obtain. 

Figure 20-3 represents the plot of the data from Table 20-1. In this case, the operation could expect a 90,000 property damage accident approximately every twenty-four return periods or about once every six years. In this case the expected mean annual worst case loss would be approximately 32,000. 

There will be times when the network is unavailable and data will be buffered in the A/D unit or data server. It is important to ensure that this function works during the PQ. The worst-case example for the buffering will be defined in the URS and will be the number of injections with the longest run time. The run should be started, then the network is disconnected and the data accumulated in the A/D unit or acquisition unit until the end of the run when the network reconnected and the buffered data are transferred to the server. There should be no loss of data integrity in any of the buffered and transferred files if this test is to pass. 

Step three is to collect the worst-case data for the particular category of loss being investigated for each return period. For a ten-year study of fire damage, for example, identify the worst loss (in dollars) caused by fire during each year of the ten-year period (assuming the return period selected is one year). 

At present, mine gas is the major risks affecting coal mine production safety in China, the safety problems caused by the gas accounted for over 80% of coal mine production safety accidents, and its casualties account for 90% of all serious accidents casualties (Li Jing 2007), Especially the gas explosion accidents, which have caused worst human and economic losses. From 2004 to 2009, various national coal mine accidents caused more than 10 people died approximately 225 cases, 5280 people deaths, of which including 147 gas accidents, 3,667 people deaths, accounting for 65.3% and 69.5% respectively. After restoration efforts, the industry in recent years, coal mine production safety situation in China is a little better. But the coal mine production safety situation is still grim, the total accidents is still too large, serious accidents have occurred from time to time. Based on the statistical data of the state production safety supervision and Management Bureau in 2010 and other statistical data, in 2010 China s coal mine gas accident occurred 135 cases, killed 593 people...
