Wiping and polishing cloths

Cotton and silk is sued to manufacture paper and to wiping and polishing cloths for a range of industries finm the automotive to the mining sector. [Pg.116]

All the electrosyntheses deseribed below use a three-electrode electrochemical cell, with a working electrode (usually platinum, gold or vitreous carbon), a counterelectrode and a referenee electrode. The working electrode needs to be polished before use on specific clothes using micrometer-size alumina powders, then wiped and rinsed in dichloromethane before use. The reference electrode can be either a real Ag (CH3CN)/Ag reference connected to the solution by a flit, or an AgCl/Ag wire directly dipped in the solution. In any case, it is recommended to check the potential vs. ferrocene prior and after the experiments. The counterelectrode is usually an inert metal coil or high area plate. [Pg.250]

Shoe polish. Using a square of superfine steel wool, rub the area gently. Work very slowly because you are essentially sanding off the top layer. Then wipe with a cloth barely dampened with distilled white vinegar and dry with a clean cloth. [Pg.179]

To Clean die Glass Plates.—Wash them well with watar, and scrub them with a hard brush till they appear to be clean. Then rub them all over with a toft of tow dipped in dilute nitrio acid wash them again thoroughly in several changes of water, or under a tap, wipe them dry with clean linen cloths, and finally polish them with a washleather or piece of cambric. When a plate is perfectly dean, the breath condenses upon it in an even sheet free from irregular markings. [Pg.699]

Remove the wax by placing the ring in warm water and wiping off the wax. Using fine emery cloth, polish the ring. [Pg.265]

Sodium chloride can be easily polished between use. The crystal is sanded flat with a flnegrade sandpaper if it is freshly cleaved, scratched, or damaged by water. Two polishing laps are prepared. There are different types, but the wet lap can be simply two thicknesses of fine nylon cloth stretched over a flat surface. The wet lap is wetted with water and sprinkled with a little fine polishing powder such as aluminum oxide or cerium oxide. This is rubbed smooth and all excess water is wiped off. The flat salt plate is mbbed about 20 strokes on the wet lap and then, without delay, is buffed about 7 strokes on the dry lap, which can be simply a layer of diaper cloth held flat. Cesium bromide... [Pg.192]
