In practice, the NEP of a room-temperature THz spectrometer is usually limited by fluctuations (shot-noise) in the ambient blackbody radiation. Usmg an optical bandwidth Av = 3 THz (limited by, for example, a polyethylene/diamond dust window), a field of view (at nomial incidence) 0 = 9 and a detecting diameter (using a so-called Winston cone, which condenses the incident radiation onto the detecting element) laboratory applications, the background-limited NEP of a bolometer is given by... [Pg.1234]

As part of the research described in Fig. 7.5, Winston and Wichacheewaf measured the percentages of carbon and chlorine in copolymers of styrene (molecule 1) and 1-chloro-l,3-butadiene (molecule 2) prepared from various feedstocks. A portion of their data is given below ... [Pg.498]

We are grateful to Dr. Azat Badretdinov and Mr. Eric Feyfant for many discussions about comparative protein structure modeling. AF is a Burroughs Wellcome Fellow. RS is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute predoctoral fellow. FM is a Norman and Rosita Winston Biomedical Research Foundation Fellow. AS is a Sinsheimer Scholar and an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow. The investigations have also been aided by grants from NIH (GM 54762) and NSF (BIR-9601845). [Pg.301]

A significant development of the study was the use of event trees to link the system fault trees to (lie accident initiators and the core damage states as described in Chapter 3. This was a response to the ditficulties encountered in performing the in-plant analysis by fault trees alone. Nathan Villalva and Winston Little proposed the application of decision trees, which was recognized by Saul Levine a.s providing the structure needed to link accident sequences to equipment failure. [Pg.3]

At the Winston Plant, changes in the plant management staff have resulted in a delay. The schedule at this plant will be delayed for two months through project completion. [Pg.181]

The Woodlawn Plant has completed installation of its Management of Change procedure, and the Kingston Plant is continuing to implement process hazard assessment. The assignment of a new plant manager to the Winston Plant has delayed their installation efforts by one month. [Pg.182]

Woodlawn is concentrating on its process documentation system, while Kingston continues to work on process hazard assessment. Winston and Highgate continue to work on Management of Change. [Pg.182]
