Who Should Read This Book

Who should read this book Students who anticipate performing TEQA will find the content very beneficial. This includes students at universities and four-year colleges that offer an analytical chemistry course with an environmental emphasis. As we have found at Michigan State University, there is a real need to teach incoming graduate students the principles encompassed in this book. The book also serves the practicing analytical chemist who works in an environmental testing laboratory or equivalent. 

Who else should read this book Chemists who would Kke a fresh approach to TEQA will find it here. Environmental engineers who are engaged in hazardous waste site remediation will find helpful information to clarify practices, procedures, and definitions. These professionals are likely to send samples to environmental testing labs and it is helpful for them to better understand the advantages and limitations of TEQA by better understanding its principles and practices. 

There is one catch. You will not find that problem to be very challenging, because you are the one who made it. So here is what you should do. Find a friend in the course, and each of you should make up 10 or 20 problems. Then you switch off with each other. You will find that this is a very effective method for studying. The larger your study group becomes, the more effective it will be. Don t be shy. You will need to w ork with a friend to get the practice that you need, not to mention the valuable peer support. If you are reading this book, then chances are that other students in your course have this book also. They will have the same need that you do. Team up with them. 

A detailed description of the stages of zebrafish development has recently been published (32) and the reader who is interested in a detailed look at the key features of this developmental series should read this paper and refer to the Zebrafish Book (33). What follows is a brief description of the key stages of zebrafish development over the first 2-s period—all of the terms and stages are consistent with those used by Kimmel et al. (32) and relate to embryos growing at 28.5°C. 

The average person, however, will not spend valuable time reading a handbook on ways to reduce personal risk for injury. In fact, most people do not believe they are at risk for personal injury, so why should they read a book about improving safety While I believe everyone should read this Handbook, a text on the psychology of safety is destined for a select and elite audience—people who are concerned about the rate of injuries in their organization or community and want to do something about it. 

Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry A Practical Guide is designed to be a valuable resource to the GC/MS user by incorporating much of the practical information necessary for successful GC/MS operation into a single source. With this purpose in mind, the authors have kept the reading material practical and as brief as possible. This guide should be immediately valuable to the novice, as well as to the experienced GC/MS user who may not have the breadth of experience covered in this book. 

When there is only one continuous independent variable, there are some well-developed theories that give the best method for sampling. This is adequately discussed in the literature. Since it is not a typical plant-design situation, it will not be discussed further here. Anyone who is interested should read Douglas Wilde s book Optimum Seeking Methods. 1...
