Weekly meetings open discussions

A weekly clinical governance meeting, attended 50-1-people, was already in place where problems and solutions could be openly discussed... 

The weekly meeting is used to recap and summarize any open discussions from the daily preshift meeting to ensure that no obstacles or miscom-munications continue to exist. 

More often, the FDA will schedule the meeting and request a Briefing Book at a specified time (usually four weeks) prior to the meeting. While the proposed date is open to discussion, FDA calendars are very tight, and alternate meetings should only be proposed in extreme cases. 

When I returned after the two weeks had passed, we gathered in the meeting room and one by one they presented their stories. Their presentations highlighted positive experiences in which they had engaged their peers in Lean Safety improvement discussions. As far as the union members, they displayed the most positive of attitudes. They were friendly and open and provided very positive feedback on their interactions with their peers when they conducted their Safety Gemba Walks. They were engaged and my definition of an engaged employee is one who feels like he or she has made a difference in the business.
