The researchers from Waseda University have been following the most recent GE strategy for developing improved biocatalysts with desulfurization activity. They hold two patents, the first concerns with the use of Mycobacterium frei WU-0103 strain in a method for decomposing heterocyclic sulfur compounds [169], This bacterium has the ability for desulfurizing DBTs, benzothiophenes, naphthothiophene, and their alkyl derivatives, at 50°C. Details about this strain and the method can be found in Section 2.2.3 in Chapter 3. [Pg.362]

Many methods have been developed for asymmetric allylation. One of the best is the procedure reported by Masahisa Nakada of Waseda University (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 125 1140,... [Pg.7]

Intramolecular carbene insertion (e.g. 1 —> 3) has long been a useful method for ring construction. Masahisa Nakada of Waseda University in Tokyo now reports (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 125 2860, 2003) that with the addition of the ligand 2 this process can be made highly enantioselective. As the starting diazo ketone 1 is easily prepared by diazo transfer to the sulfonyl ketone, this should allow facile entry to enantioenriched cyclopentanones and cyclohexanones. [Pg.31]

Using a pilot system at Waseda University, we have been able to develop the technology and the concept of digital optics for the radio patrol camera. The present pilot system is an eight elements 1 dimensional array. So, the picture points are eight. The wide view and the real time image formation have been established in this system. [Pg.458]
