Using the theorem that the sufficiency condition for mathematical correctness in 3D-reconstruction is fulfilled if all planes intersecting the object have to intersect the source-trajectory at least in one point [8], it is possible to generalise Feldkamp s method. Using projection data measured after changing the sotuce-trajectory from circular to spiral focus orbit it is possible to reconstruct the sample volume in a better way with the Wang algorithm [9]. 

Shortcomings of Wang s method like limited pitch of the spiral and blurring in the vertical direction can be improved by the CFBP-algorithm [10], where gaps in the spiral sampling pattern are filled using X-rays measured from the opposite side.

For commercial Ephedra the British Pharmaceutical Codex, 1934, specifies a total alkaloidal content of not less than 1-25 per cent, when assayed by the method therein prescribed. The proportion of Z-ephedrine is generally about 70 per cent. Methods of assay for total alkaloids are described by Feng and Read and by Krishna and Chose, who discuss the various difficulties involved and comments on these and other methods have been made by various workers. Conditions affecting the results of such assays have also been discussed by T ang and Wang, and Brownlee has shown that chloroform is not a suitable medium for the assay since it converts ephedrine quickly and 0-ephedrine slowly to the hydrochloride. 

A prominent part of many of the techniques is separation of variables. In that method, the deflection variables, or the variation In deflection variables, are arbitrarily separated into functions of plate coordinate x alone times functions of y alone. Wang [5-8] determined that separation of variables leads to exact solutions for some classes of plate problems, but does not for others, I.e., the deflections are not always separable. A specific example of an approximate use of separation of variables due to Ashton [5-9] will be discussed in Section 5.3.2. Other exact uses of the method abound throughout Section 5.3 through 5.5.
