Vitamin Duodenal ulcers

Warfarin antagonists include vitamin K, barbiturates, glutethimide. rifampin, and cholestyramine. Warfarin potentiators include phenylbutazone. oxyphenbutazone, anabolic steroids, clofibrate, aspirin, hepatotoxins, disnlfirain, and metronidazole. In patients undergoing anticoagulation therapy with warfann, it has been found that cimetidine (used in therapy of duodenal ulcer) may increase anticoagulant blood levels and consequently prolong the prothrombin time. 

Cirrhosis, alcoholic hepatitis, pancreatitis, gastric or duodenal ulcer, esophageal varices, middle-age onset of diabetes, gastrointestinal cancer, hypertension, peripheral neuropathies, myopathies, cardiomyopathy, cerebral vascular accidents, erectile dysfunction, vitamin deficiencies, pernicious anemia, and brain disorders including Wemicke-Korsakoff syndrome (mortality rate of untreated Wernicke is 50% treatment is with thiamine)... 

Horwitt [125] has investigated vitamin E requirements in humans by administering a vitamin E-defi-cient diet supplemented with unsaturated fats for the purpose of removing vitamin E. He found that the amount of tocopherol in tissue is inversely related to the amount of unsaturated fat that has been administered. A significant observation was that 30% of the individuals receiving the unsaturated fats also developed duodenal ulcers. Hemorrhagic endarteritis similar to that observed in vitamin E-deficient chicks has been described in a child who, for therapeutic purposes, was fed a diet rich in milk and unsaturated fat, but devoid of vitamin E.
