Viscosity liquid mixtures

Derived from spray data for high-viscosity liquids (mixtures of glycerine and water) of 50flows through discharge slots and impacts both sides of a flat liquid sheet from a discharge slot inbetween the air slots) Droplet size measured by Malvern 2600HSD Spray Analyzer Effects of air slot thickness included... [Pg.267]

Because the RIM materials enter the mould as low viscosity liquids, they accurately reproduce the mould surface. This characteristic is an advantage when a stained or textured surface is desired for aesthetic reasons. Secondly, both mould halves must be closely fitted to avoid excess leakage and fiash of the low-viscosity liquid mixture. This close-fit requirement must be balanced with the need to dispel all the air in the mould within the 5 s or less fill time. Some provisions for the release of mould air must be made. Also mould release must be applied to the mould surface to effect release of the parts, and mould cleaning is required to control flash removal and polymer build-up. [Pg.191]

These mixers are specified when one liquid must be dissolved in another, a solid and a liquid must be mixed, a high viscosity liquid must be reacted, a light liquid must be extracted from a mixture of heavy and light liquids, or when gas must be absorbed in a liquid. To select the proper mixer, certain fluid properties must be know n ... [Pg.207]

A distillation operation separating a low-viscosity hydrocarbon mixture requires three shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The liquid feed is to be preheated to saturated liquid by heat recovery from another low-viscosity hydrocarbon stream. The reboiler is to be a vertical thermosyphon using steam heating. [Pg.354]

Enhanced-fluidity liquids (EELs) are mixtures that contain high proportions of liquefied gases, such as carbon dioxide [5]. Eluidity,/, is defined as the inverse of viscosity. EEL mixtures combine the positive attributes of commonly-used liquids, such as high solvent strength, with the positive attributes of supercritical fluids, such as low viscosity or high fluidity, low surface tension, high diffusivity. These attributes allow EELC to contribute to the quest for increased separation power. [Pg.424]

The addition of a dispersed liquid phase (immiscible organic solvent) changes the rate of transfer of the solute gas across the boundary layer. Physical properties (density, viscosity, gas solubility and gas diffusivity) of the liquid mixture are changed and the gas-liquid characteristics (possible pathway for mass transfer and gas-liquid interfacial area) can be changed owing to the interfacial proper-... [Pg.592]

Fig. I. Single-drum dryer (atmospheric). Dryers of this type may be dip or splash fed (not shown), or, as shown, equipped with applicator rolls. The latter is particularly effective for drying high-viscosity liquids or pasty materials, such as mashed potatoes, applesauce, fruit-starch mixtures, gelatin, dextrine-type adhesives, and various star dies. The applicator rolls eliminate void areas, permit drying between successive layers of fresh material and (omi me product sheet gradually. While single applications may dry to a lacy sheet or flakes, the multiple layers generally result in a product of uniform thickness and density with minimum dusting tendencies.
