Varnish driers

Vehicles. The soHd pigments are dispersed iato the ink vehicle, which consists of a combination of resia, oil, and solvent. The solvent is absorbed by the paper, leaving a partially dry ink film of resia and oil that biads the pigment to the paper. This film then hardens by oxidation. Oxidation of the vehicle is aided by varnish driers, ie, metallic salts. Cobalt driers are considered the most effective (see Driers and metallic soaps). 

Manganese(ll) sulfate is used to produce manganese by an electrolytic process. The compound is used for dyeing textiles for producing red glazes on porcelain in varnish driers in fertihzers and in animal feeds to provide manganese as an essential trace element. 

Stearic acid is used (1) in the preparation of metallic stearates, such as aluminum stearate for thickening lubricating oils, for waterproofing materials, and for varnish driers, (2) in the manufacture of "stearin candles, and is added in small amounts to paraffin wax candles. As the... 

Drier. A composition that accelerates the drying of oil paint, printing ink, or varnish. Driers are usually metallic compositions and are available in both solid and liquid forms. 

Use Abietates (resinates) of heavy metals as varnish driers, esters in lacquers and varnishes, fermentation industries, soaps. 

Use Paint and varnish drier and bodying agent, detergent in lube oils, the solution in organic solvents has been proposed for insecticides and siccatives.

Use Paint and varnish driers (metallic salts). Ethylhexoates of light metals are used to convert some mineral oils to greases. Its esters are used as plasticizers.
