Valox electrical

In the USA producers included Eastman Kodak (Tenite PTMT), General Electric Corporation of America (Valox), and American Celanese (Celanex). In Europe major producers by the end of the decade were AKZO (Amite PBTP), BASF (Ultradur), Bayer (Pocan) and Ciba-Geigy (Crastin). Other producers included ATO, Hills, Montedison and Dynamit Nobel. With the total Western European market at the end of the decade only about 7000 tonnes other companies at one time involved in the market such as ICI (Deroton) withdrew. [Pg.725]

The basic composition of matter patents had long since expired when Celanese sampled the market in 1970 with a glass fiber reinforced PBT product designated X-917. This product was subsequently called Celanex polyester molding compound. Eastman Kodak followed Celanese early in 1971, and General Electric followed Eastman Kodak later in the same year with Valox PBT polyester resin. Since that time a dozen or more additional companies around the world have entered (and some have subsequently exited) the business. [Pg.510]

Poly(butylenes terephthalate), often abbreviated to PBT or PBTP, is manufactured by condensation polymeri2ation of dimethyl terephthalate and butane-1,4-diol in the presence of tetrabutyl titanate. The polymer is also known as poly(tetramethylene terephthalate), PTMT in short. Some trade names for this engineering thermoplastic are Tenite PTMT (Eastman Kodak), Valox (General Electric), Celanex (Celanese) in America and Amite PBTP (Akzo), Ultradur (BASF), Pocan (Bayer), and Crastin (Ciba-Geigy) in Europe. [Pg.437]

Poly(butylene terephthalate) is historically the oldest of the crystalline thermoplastic polyester molding resins, having been introduced by Celanese Corp. in 1970 under the trade name Celanex. General Electric Co. then brought out their own version Valox , and today there are numerous suppliers including BASF, Bayer AG, and DSM. Celanese have recently become Ticona. In Japan,... [Pg.6135]
