Uncle Sam

Although tetrafluorosilane can be readily produced by the action of hydrogen fluoride on sihca, its production is a by-product of HF production by the reaction of fluorospar and sulfuric acid and as a by-product from phosphate fertilizer production by the treatment of fluoroapatite with sulfuric acid (171). The most significant U.S. production is by IMC-Agrico at Uncle Sam, Louisiana.

Ransdell, the bill to establish a National Institute of Health quickly became for them much more than just an effort to publicize the campaign for a privately-supported research institute. Perhaps Herty was tired of waiting for a rich millionaire to endow his pet project, and finally decided to turn to his Uncle Sam.

Uncle Sam might say something similar All people must pay taxes, but some must pay more taxes than others. Our current federal income tax system treats taxpayers unfairly and requires and monumental budget to administer and maintain. Aflat tax, which would treat all taxpayers equally and dramatically reduce tax compliance cost, is the answer.

So please, Mr. Taber, when you re scrutinizing the budget, don t get too upset because we maintain planes and air officers to fly them at all these little capitals. They are not luxuries, they are necessities. They may indeed be the necessities of life for a lot of faithful servants of Uncle Sam. 

I cannot sufficiently emphasize the importance to all our Mediterranean activities, and to the support of our policies in that area, of the presence there of a strong, balanced, American naval force. Vannevar Bush made a similar choice that spring. Karl Compton had offered to move up to chairman of the MIT corporation and give him the presidency to keep him, but Bush had larger plans.
