The stacks are moved and again separated into individual panels where they pass a grading station. Those panels requiring touch-up or repair move to the repair stations. Panels then move to the trim saws where edges are trimmed to the final desired size, normally 1220 x 2440 mm (4x8 ft.). Panels are then touch-sanded to final thickness, and pre-finished as desired. Those panels with high quaUty decorative veneer faces are usually filled, stained to the desired tone, and finished with a clear finish. [Pg.382]

A schematic diagram of the polymer precipitation process is shown in Figure 8. The hot polymer solution is cast onto a water-cooled chill roU, which cools the solution, causing the polymer to precipitate. The precipitated film is passed through an extraction tank containing methanol, ethanol or 2-propanol to remove the solvent. Finally, the membrane is dried, sent to a laser inspection station, trimmed, and roUed up. The process shown in Figure 8... [Pg.64]

The wool passes through an oven, which cures the resinous binder and determines the thickness of the product. On leaving the oven, the insulation is trimmed, slit and chopped into the appropriate product length prior to reaching the packing station, where it is either packaged as rolls or slabs. [Pg.120]

They are then forced through a narrow die to form a hollow tube called a parison. A chilled mold is then clamped around the parison and inflated from the inside by air. The air pressure presses the parison against the mold, and it hardens in the shape of the mold. The mold then opens and ejects the HDPE bottle. The bottle is then trimmed and conveyed to the milk filling station. The waste plastic is ground for reuse. GHG emissions associated with the embodied energy of the packaging machinery may be calculated but typically fall near the 1% cutoff line and can be excluded (Cashman et ah, 2009). [Pg.60]

As the continuous ribbon is conveyed from the forming station it may or may not be consolidated by a cold press. This prepressing operation reduces the mat thickness and increases the mat density which improves the handling characteristics of the mat, but does not initiate adhesive polymerization. The continuous ribbon is also trimmed to width and cut into individual mats, the length of which is equal to the length of the hot press. The individual mats are placed in the press loader which serves as a temporary storage area for the mats prior to hot pressing. [Pg.235]

In addition to the accumulator head, a number of other machine advances have taken place in the past 20 years. These are in-mold prefinish, automated flash trimming, leak detection, and conveying to filling station. Also, dual accumulators allow up to four parisons to be extruded simultaneously and molded on the clamping unit. [Pg.601]

Shaft stations. Existing shaft stations may need trimming or major refits to support the movement of items underground. Items may include people, equipment and materials. Does it fit If not, how big does the opening need to be ... [Pg.645]

The top and bottom dies are heated independently to about 120°-150°C (250°-300°F). Dies are of hard tool steel with the part appearance surface mounted on the top platen. A vertical flash design with adequate guide pins, safety stops, and ejector system is suggested. Dies must have a shear edge of about 0.002-0.003 in. to trim the part in station. [Pg.278]

The handling fixture carries the product into the secondary operation station by either the mold motion or the action of a transporter. There, the flash is first trimmed, and the other operations are carried out, such as drilling, milling, and cutting. Advantages ... [Pg.158]

While CWS fuels address one of the mine safety and environmental issues, they also can be used to address airborne emissions from coal-fired boilers. Specifically cofiring CWS in coal-fired boilers can be used as a significant method for trimming NO emissions and reducing the costs associated with NO, control. The extent to which CWS improves NOx emissions can be a function of the base fuel and base combustion conditions, the slurry formulation, and the approach to slurry injection. The experimentation at Seward Generating Station Boiler 15, in particular, demonstrates the environn ntal potential of this family of opportunity fuels. [Pg.114]

With the first two methods, the trim die is notched to allow the products to remain attached to the sheet until it is moved to the product removal station. Products are usually directly punched from the sheet to a collection table in in-line trimming. [Pg.354]

The die is maintained in close proximity (typically 40 mm to 80 mm) to the chill roll so that the low-strength melt web remains unsupported for a minimal distance and time (Fig. 8.7). If the die is too close, there is insufficient space for thickness drawdown and widthwise neck-in to take place in a stable manner. The web flows on to the water-cooled chill roll with a wraparound of 240° or more before passing to a second chill roll, and then proceeding to edge trimming, tensioning, and windup stations. The first chill roll is critical to process quality. The cooling capacity must... [Pg.199]
