Triangulation

MAPPscan is a manual ultrasonic testing system connected to an acoustic positioning system.. The system is developed as a consequence of the increased radiation doses in nuclear plants The system has the same flexibility as manual scanning with the same accuracy and the possibilties to collect, store and evaluate the UT data as with mechanised Ultrasonic systems The positioning system is based on spatial acoustic triangulation and have an accuracy of better than 1.0 mm within its recommended range. 

The principle of optical triangulation has been known since the time of the early Greeks, and indeed optical triangulation has been used for hundreds of years in applications such as surveying, camera auto-focus and even smart-bombs. With the advent of low-cost, compact electro-optic components such as lateral-effect photodetectors, diode lasers and micro-optics, laser-based triangulation sensors can now be employed for applications that were, heretofore, considered uninspectable.

The mass transport influence is easy to diagnose experimentally. One measures the rate at various values of the Thiele modulus the modulus is easily changed by variation of R, the particle size. Cmshing and sieving the particles provide catalyst samples for the experiments. If the rate is independent of the particle size, the effectiveness factor is unity for all of them. If the rate is inversely proportional to particle size, the effectiveness factor is less than unity and

experimental points allow triangulation on the curve of Figure 10 and estimation of Tj and ( ). It is also possible to estimate the effective diffusion coefficient and thereby to estimate Tj and ( ) from a single measurement of the rate (48). 

Can any number of identical subunits be accommodated in the asymmetric unit while preserving specificity of interactions within an icosahedral arrangement This question was answered by Don Caspar then at Children s Hospital, Boston, and Aaron Klug in Cambridge, England, who showed in a classical paper in 1962 that only certain multiples (1, 3, 4, 7...) of 60 subunits are likely to occur. They called these multiples triangulation numbers, T. Icosahedral virus structures are frequently referred to in terms of their trian-gulation numbers a T = 3 virus structure therefore implies that the number of subunits in the icosahedral shell is 3 x 60 = 180. 

The alternate method uses the proximity probes and an oscilloscope. A Lissajous figure is established on the oscilloscope. The orbit pattern and the keyphase mark are used to generate a vector. Weights are added or removed and the changes in the orbit are noted. Triangulation is used to anticipate the next move. The numerical accuracy of simulations performed using this model is affected by several factors. These include a) the degree of triangulation, b) the number of marching steps taken along the flow direction and c) the order of the polynomial basis function. Numerical accuracy improves as a, b and c increase, however the computational time can become excessive. Therefore, it was necessary to quantitatively determine the effects of these variables on numerical accuracy.

Plots should be clearly labeled, and the trial/study identity should be marked in the vicinity of the trial. Plots should be clearly triangulated to fixed points so that at a later date independent third parties can identify separate plots on the basis of documentation.
