Treponema hyodysenteriae

Treponema hyodysenteriae [181], coccidiostatic agent [182], antibacterial in mice (E. coli, Klebsiellapneumniae, Salmonella pullorum) [183], veterinary [184—190], increase of gain of turkey and pigs [191]... [Pg.414]

One of the newer semi-synthetic macrolides for veterinary use is 3-0-acetyl-4"-6)-isovaleryltylosin (AlV-tylosin) (15) Figure 5.6). Its in vitro spectrum is similar to tylosin, but includes activity against some tylosin-resistant organisms in vivo, it attains higher serum concentrations than tylosin [61, 77], It has been reported to prophylactically control Mycoplasma gallisepticum-inAmceA air sac lesions and Treponema hyodysenteriae-swine dysentery after oral administration [293, 294]. [Pg.284]

UK-69,753 (SMI) was isolated from cultures of Amycolatopsis orientalis [265]. Its structure was determined using UV, FABMS, elemental analysis, H and NMR, acid hydrolysis to give the disaccharide, and X-ray crystallography of the disaccharide unit [266], In vitro assay showed 90 posesscd antibacterial activity, being particularly effective against Clostridium difficile and Treponema hyodysenteriae (MIC = 0.39 pg/ml and 0.78 pg/ml, respectively [266], In vivo, 90 (3.6 or 7.1 mg/kg/day) provided effective treatment of mice colonized with T. hyodysenteriae [266]. [Pg.208]

Treponema hyodysenteriae, a causative agent of swine dysentery, is sensitive to polyether antibiotics at low concentrations in vitro. In pigs, lasalocid was effective in controlling dysentery at levels of 0.005—0.05% in feeds (167). Several species of Mycoplasma are inhibited in vitro at a MIC range of 2.0—25 p/mL of polyethers including narasin, carriomycin, and K41 (164). [Pg.172]
