A pipefitter s helper was transporting tools to the boss. The helper walked through a cloud of steam before handing the tool to his boss. Upon each transfer, the boss received a rather large shock.

From a resource utilization viewpoint this seems to be an ecologically excellent development, as silicon oxide is the most available mineral on Earth. Industrial processes needed to process minerals into useable products do, however, create wastes and consume energy. Sustainable production means that no aspects of human life should be threatened by this processing and that its products should improve living conditions on Earth. The Bmndtland Commission states that sustainable development must be based on availability of metals and materials for use in building, construction, transportation, tools, and necessary equipment.

The evaluation of the contributions of uptake transporters to discover ADME profiling remains a challenge for several reasons. First, unlike efflnx transporters, in vitro tools to evaluate uptake transporters are not as readily available or well defined. Some of the more popular uptake transporter tools will be discussed below. Second, many of the limited substrates have overlap with other uptake transporters. Specific marker compounds for uptake transporters are not as well known compared to efflux transporters. Third, only a limited number of known inhibitors can provide specificity and a dynamic range that will allow sufficient kinetic profiling of a particular drug of interest with a specific uptake transporter. 

Development of in vitro and in vivo tools to evaluate transporter-mediated SARs, pharmacokinetics, and pharmocodynamic effects has accelerated in recent years in the preelinieal drug diseovery setting. Investigators use these transporter tools to help prediet and avoid adverse clinical DDIs. Transporter studies to eorrelate in vitro in vivo data have not yet fully matured as those with CYP studies. However, the momentum to gain a better understanding of transporter eontributions to elinieal outeomes is advancing quickly. 

China did not invent the bicycle but does have the largest use of bikes in the world. China s population is about 1.4 billion, about 5 times that of the USA and about 17 times that of Germany. In the United States, one family (average of four people) has about three cars, and in Germany, the number of cars per capita is even more than that. However, these kinds of figures are impractical to aim for in China due to the supply of oil and resultant air pollution. An alternative choice is to develop electric bikes since they can be used as transportation tools. Since electric bikes will not produce environmental pollution and noise, they will comprise a promising choice for developing countries.
