The packaging and transport requirements associated with plant-protection products constitute an international issue covered by agreed procedures relating to classification, identification, packaging, marking and labelling, documentation and training. Many of the procedures address issues wider than the delivery of pesticides, and a detailed discussion of these requirements is beyond the scope of this chapter. 

The WHO/FAO (1978) has issued practical advice in a Data Sheet on Pesticides, No. 36 (Chlordane), dealing with labeling, safe-handling, transport, storage, disposal, decontamination, training and medical supervision of workers, first aid, and medical treatment. 

Portability, time of analysis and automation are important issues for environmental sensors. Collection and transportation of samples to the laboratory adds to the cost of analysis. Solutions to these issues have been addressed in this volume in Chapters 9, 17 and 18, that report developments of a screen printed disposable electrode for organophosphate pesticides, a compact self-standing immunosensor for bacteria, and spot assay for glucose, respectively.
