Trailer-mounted plant

Since the first plants were produced in the early 1950s, several thousand brackish water electrodialysis plants have been installed around the world. Modern plants are generally fully automated and require only periodic operator attention. This has encouraged production of many small trailer-mounted plants. However, a number of large plants with production rates of 10 million gal/day or more have also been installed. [Pg.415]

In the United States (and increasingly in Europe and elsewhere), with the rise in outsourcing, it is now possible for manufacturing industries to obtain electricity via transportable, trailer-mounted, packaged turbine generators. Here the steam is supplied from outsourced mobile boilers, which in turn receive FW from mobile water treatment plants. [Pg.115]

Utilities outsourcing The complete outsourcing of utilities, such as the provision of steam and water, is the next level. In fact, many organizations around the world have purchased steam from a neighboring manufacturing facility or from a utilities supplier for many years, but today there are many permutations on this theme. For some time it has been common to hire a boiler or even a turbine generator on a temporary basis. Now it is easy to hire the water treatment plant, or simply to buy the MU water needed to run the plant. Under these schemes, contractors may provide trailer-mounted water treatment equipment, which is simply driven in and hooked up directly to the customers deaerator or FW tank. [Pg.128]

At a site in New Iberia, Louisiana, freezeWALL installed a ground freezing system 240 ft below ground surface, intended to freeze an area of 3600 ft. This system used a trailer-mounted ammonia refrigeration plant and 58 freeze pipes located 6 ft apart. The duration of freezing is to last 35 months, and the contract amount was 6 million (D19593B, p. 2). [Pg.599]

A skid-mounted batch plant complete with steam boiler and generator was placed on a flatbed trailer and was positioned adjacent to the site. Composite was prepared from slate sulfur and was sprayed directly onto the basin. Instantaneous spray rates were about 400 lb/min. [Pg.231]

In most instances, plants receiving resin via railcar have a rail siding on site, but this is not always the case. In some instances, the rail-car is held at a local railyard and material is transferred out of the railcar and into a bulk truck by means of a portable railcar unloader. These units are typically mounted on trailers and powered by diesel engines. The truck shuttles material to the plant where it self-unloads into the silos. This method adds a cost to the operation, thereby reducing savings, but it is an option where on-site sidings are not available. [Pg.479]

Within a US chemical plant, a large mobile sandblasting pot mounted on a four-wheel trailer sounded a frightening harmless bang. The big pot experienced an unexpected failure of the 10 in. (25 cm) diameter quick-closure lid and a rapid depressurization. [Pg.275]
