If we consider a well trajectory from surface to total depth (TD) it is sensible to look at the shallow section and the intermediate and reservoir intervals separately. The shallow section, usually referred to as top hole consists of rather unconsolidated sediments, hence the formation strength is low and drilling parameters and equipment have to be selected accordingly. [Pg.44]

The magnitude of the phase shift relates to the total depth of the metal penetrated and hence is a sensitive measure of the wall thiekness and loss of thiekness. [Pg.321]

Phase lag = total depth of metal/skin depth, therefore phase lag is given by dV7t[Pg.321]

When all of the ISS spectra are plotted in a three-dimensional manner, such as the z- plot shown in Figure 3, the changes in surface composition with depth are much more obvious. In this figure, each spectrum represents the composition at a different cross section of the total depth sputtered, hence the spectra are plotted at different depths. Note that the spectra are not recorded at identical incremental depths. [Pg.519]

Every material sputters at a characteristic rate, which can lead to significant amb ity in the presentation of depth profile measurements by sputtering. Before an accurate profile can be provided, the relative sputtering rates of the components of a material must be independently known and included, even though the total depth of the profile is normally determined (e.g., by stylus profilometer). To first order, SNMS offers a solution to this amb ity, since a measure of the total number of atoms being sputtered from the surface is provided by summing all RSF- and... [Pg.579]

After the surface casing has been tested and the blowout preventer installed, drilling operations are resumed. They will continue until the well has been drilled to the total depth decided upon. Usually the... [Pg.907]

A typical office desk is about 3x5 feet, though another size may be more desirable. There should be at least three feet between the desk and the wall for getting in and out of a chair. Typical dimensions for file cabinets are 15x25 inches, but the opened drawers may increase the total depth to as much as 48 inches. Bookcases are usually 9 to 12 inches deep and are available in many widths. [Pg.24]

Baudoin etal. [168,169] first presented qualitative depth profiles of lacquer and polymer coatings by means of r.f. GD-OES. Quantitative depth profiles were successively obtained by Payling et al. [170] on prepainted metal coated steel. Samples comprised a (rutile) pigmented silicone-modified polyester topcoat over a polymer primer, on top of an aluminium-zinc-silicon alloy coated steel substrate. With GD-OES in r.f. mode, it was possible to determine the depth profile through the polymer topcoat, polymer primer coat, metal alloy coating, and alloy layer binding to the steel substrate with a total depth of 50 im, all in about 60 min on the one sample. GD-OES depth profiles of unexposed and weathered silicone-modified polyesters were also reported [171]. Radiofrequency GD-OES has further been used to... [Pg.619]

The injection well was cased to a depth of about 1495 m (4900 ft) and extended into dolomite to a total depth of 1617 m (5300 ft). Injection began in the early 1960s and averaged around 340 L/min (90 gal/min). The natural fluid level was 60 m (200 ft) below the wellhead, and wastes were injected using gravity flow that is, the pressure head of the well when filled to the surface with fluid was sufficient to inject fluids without pumping under pressure.181... [Pg.846]

Total depth of oceans of 2800 meters contains 0.14 g organic carbon/cm3... [Pg.283]

This perturbation comes only from the carbonate in the approximately 100 meters thick surface mixed layer it contains about 0.15 g carbon/cm2, approximately equal to that in the atmosphere and to the organic carbon dissolved in the total depth of the sea. In the case of organic carbon, the total depth of the sea is involved because bacterial decomposition occurs at all depths, producing methane and carbon monoxide with both of which the sea is saturated, so that these gases are bubbling up from all depths. In comparison the sea is not saturated with C02 at any depth. [Pg.284]

Bathymetry shows that the shape of Pit Lake resembles of a funnel with the an upper surface diameter of 110 m and the diameter of the neck of 50 m. The depth from the surface of the lake to the funnel neck is approximately 20 m (the approximate position of the former crown pillar) and the total depth of the lake is 130 m. Lake outflow is controlled by a culvert at elevation 236.4 m above sea level. Field investigation indicates that the lake is fed by surface runoff and seepage of groundwater through the overburden and fractured walls of the pit (Fig. 1). [Pg.130]

At the end of 24 h, measure the depth of the settled soil. This represents the total depth of soil. [Pg.459]

The filter media consists of three grades of gravel and sand having a total depth of 6 5 ft Course gravel is held in place by a stainless steel screen which prevents mixing of the gravel and sand. Above the gravel is 8-1b mesh sand topped with 12-20 mesh sand. [Pg.187]
