Threshold Filter

The hard-thresholding filter, fjj, selects wavelet coefficients that exceed a certain threshold and sets the others to zero ... [Pg.132]

The soft-thresholding filter, Fl, is similar to the hard-thresholding filter, but it also shrinks the wavelet coefficients above the threshold,... [Pg.132]

Electrowetting and Droplets, Fig. 7 Boundary detection scheme applied to the acquired images. Raw images (a) are converted to grayscale (b) and threshold filtering to... [Pg.979]

With a threshold filter, binary images can be created. A threshold of a defined intensity value is set, and all pixel intensity values above this threshold are 1, while the others are 0. If rally pixel values are set to 0, whose original intensity value is smaller than the threshold, a background subtraction can be done. This is often done to divide objects from background. [Pg.3332]

A threshold filter can nowbe applied to extract the coronary artery tree. The threshold can be applied with the aid of the histogram plot, and the result is shown in Figure 5.11. [Pg.63]

The experimental conditions used to determine the CFPP do not exactly reflect those observed in vehicles the differences are due to the spaces in the filter mesh which are much larger in the laboratory filter, the back-pressure and the cooling rate. Also, research is continuing on procedures that are more representative of the actual behavior of diesel fuel in a vehicle and which correlate better with the temperature said to be operability , the threshold value for the Incident. In 1993, the CEN looked at two new methods, one called SFPP proposed by Exxon Chemicals (David et al., 1993), the other called AGELFI and recommended by Agip, Elf and Fina (Hamon et al., 1993). [Pg.215]

Filter samples can be prepared to airborne workplace concentrations by spiking each filter with aqueous solution containing elements with concentrations gravimetrically traceable to ultrapure metals or stoidiiometricaUy well defined oxides. The amormts correspond for some of the materials to current threshold limit values of contaminants in workroom atmospheres provided that the simulated filter has been exposed to one cubic meter of air. The certified values are based on a gravimetric procedure, i.e. weight per volume composition of the primary reference material dissolved in high purity sub-dis-tiUed acids. The National Institute of Occupational Health in Oslo, Norway, has produced several batches of such materials certified for 20 elements. Additionally, information values are reported for four other elements see Table 6.2. [Pg.198]
