Three Guineas structure

Halicholactone (25) was reported to exhibit weak inhibitory activity against the 5-lipoxygenase from guinea pig polymorphonuclear leukocytes (IC50 = 630 pM) [38], A subsequent report detailing the three-dimensional structure of the co3 unsaturated neohalicholactone (26) described it as a potent lipoxygenase inhibitor , however, no additional experimental data were provided [39],... 

The fairy-tale structure of the three women, representing three novelists, each with a story to tell (rather like the three Marys who appear in A Room of One s Own, or the three begging letters in Three Guineas), is buried in the final version of How Should One Read a Book , leaving just a trace behind.But the essay has emerged from a story which is itself an exploratory refusal to choose between different species fantasy or fact, realism or romance, essay or fiction. 

A study of the three-dimensional structure of the pF fragment of guinea pig IgGl, a non-covalent dimer of the 0 3 homology sub-unit, is reported.From quantitative H n.m.r. studies on the and pF fragments of rabbit immunoglobulin G it is concluded that there is a two-fold axis of symmetry in these fragments that leads to reduced tine widths. ... 

More recently, three as yet unidentified species originating from Papua New Guinea have also been studied. Crematogaster sp. 1 was shown to contain, besides C25 homologs of the 4-oxo-2,5-dienals (131), a series of derivatives, whose structures were determined to be 135a-f, on the basis of a complete ID and 2D NMR study at 600 MHz (Fig. 23) [136]. 

When crude endotoxin from the heptose-less mutant of Salmonella typhimurium is combined with trehalose dimycolate from mycobacteria in oil droplets and injected directly into established tumors (line 10 hepatocellular carcinoma) in syngeneic guinea pigs, rapid regression of the tumors occurs and over 90% of the animals are cured. The three required components for activity in this tumor model are (a) the endotoxin (b) the mycobacterial adjuvant, trehalose dimycolate and (c) a compound satisfying the minimal structural requirement (muramyl dipeptide) for adjuvant activity by bacterial cell wall materials. The mycobacterial cell wall skeleton is able to replace the latter two components.
