Thickness glass

Place 10 ml. of pure benzaldehyde (Section IV,115) and 100 ml. of concentrated aininonia solution (sp. gr. 0-88) in a 250 ml. wide-mouthed reagent bottle. Cork the bottle securely, shake vigorously for 10 minutes and allow to stand with occasional shaking for 24 hours. By this time the benzaldehyde should be converted into a hard mass of hydrobenz-amide. Break up the solid mass with a spatula or a thick glass rod, filter with suction, wash with water, and drain thoroughly. RecrystalUse from absolute alcohol (or absolute methylated spirit). The yield of hydrobenzamide (colourless crystals), m.p. 101°, is 7 g. It is easily hydrolysed by cold dilute acids. [Pg.720]

The development of the starter battery in Japan has taken an independent course (see Sec. 9.2.1.2), visibly expressed by the separator s thick glass mat and its lack of spacing ribs (cf. Fig. 19). The cellulosic backweb impregnated with phenolic resin, generally in use until around 1980 and largely identical to the separator of the same type already mentioned has been completely replaced by thin ( 0.3 mm) fleece materials made of organic fibers. [Pg.267]

Despite New Year s resolutions to be less superficial, I can t get past thin shakers, thick glasses or dumb garnishes. A cocktail should look as sharply executed as it tastes. Ounce for ounce, it is a precise measure of intention. You can relax when the drink s in your hand. [Pg.185]

The full profile is the combination of 10 images with an FOV of 50 pm, covering a total depth of 500 pm. Each of these images is the FT of the echo signal obtained as the addition of the first 16 echoes acquired during a CPMG sequence and 512 scans with... Clean the plates with anhydrous acetone or ethanol. NOT WATER If you don t have the tiny agate mortar and pestle, try a Witt spot plate and the rounded end of a thick glass rod. The spot plate is a piece of glazed porcelain with dimples in it. Use one as a tiny mortar the other as a tiny pestle. [Pg.260]

The osmotic cell is a thick glass tube of 2 cm inner diameter, joined to the capillary of 0.5 mm in diameter and 10 cm long. The bottom part of the cell is joined to the U-shaped capillary, whose inner diameter is 1-2 mm. The solution is introduced through this capillary. [Pg.103]

A thick glass rod stirrer bent to fit around the inside of the flask works well. The mixture is too viscous to be stirred with a Hershberg stirrer. [Pg.18]

Amorphous PET is transparent with light transmittance ranging from 80% up to 92%, haze of roughly 0.3-1.3% and a refractive index of about 1.575. Glass Polymers are specially designed to mimic thick glass for packaging cosmetics and healthcare products. [Pg.418]

It was soon time for another film session and the plywood panels slid open. Z didn t understand this camera business and was anxious to explore the new technological threat. Gazing apprehensively through widely dilated pupils and thick glasses, he brought his face to within inches of the lens and stared quizzically into the giant eye of the alien creature. [Pg.132]
