The Synthesis Toolkit in

The Synthesis ToolKit in C++ (STK) is a set of audio signal processing and synthesis C++ classes and algorithms. Yon can use these classes to create programs that make sounds tvith a variety of synthesis techniques. This is not a terribly novel concept, except that the Synthesis Toolkit is extremely portable (it s mostly platform-independent C and C++ code), and it is completely user-extensible (no libraries, no hidden drivers, aU source code is included). This means that the code yon write today (and the code we ve written over the last 10 years) win stiU work in another 10 years. It cunently runs tvith real-time snpport (audio and MIDI) on SGI (Mx), Linux, Windows, and Mac (OSX) computer platforms. Non-real-time support has been tested nnder NeXTStep, SunOS, and other platforms, and should work for soundfile creation with any standard C++ compiler.
