The Slovak Society of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Informatics

The Slovak Society of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Informatics [Pg.225]

In 2008, the Society had over 60 active members, and more than 30 BME specialists and students who cooperated with the Society on an informal basis. Currently, most of the members are from universities and research institutions, some of whom are clinical engineers and practising medical doctors. The Society is the official representative of the Slovak biomedical engineering and medical informatics community in the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). [Pg.225]

For many years, publishing activities of the Society (as a co-publisher) were concentrated around the journal Lekar a technika (Physician and Medical Technology) published in Czech and Slovak languages by the Czech Society as the main publisher. [Pg.226]

The Society has its web page at httD //www.sbimi.sk that brings information on events in the BME and MI community, mediates participation of its members in expert and legislative activities, and informs about the Society actions. [Pg.226]

Besides these traditional activities, the future goals of the Society are for stronger stimulation of publications of students and young engineers, extension of the use of the web page as a discussion forum to actual problems of the community, and involvement in preparation and organisation of e-learning courses in BME and MI in Slovakia. [Pg.226]
