In this book, it is proposed to define the components of DDSC, then develop a structured methodology that will help companies assess their current state in light of demand driven supply chain concepts and identify their current strengths and gaps, and therefore, define a strategic plan to evolve and become more efficient and competitive. 

Methodological problems regarding the research of a supply chain s social capital result, inter alia, from the fact that, as opposed to other types of capital, e.g. financial, tangible or even human, the social capital of the supply chain is not the total social capital of individual entities in the chain. The components of social capital, such as specific values, trust level, cohesion, commitment or loyalty, must be planned and organised to meet the needs of the entire supply chain. With reference to the above deliberations, the author defines the supply chain s social capital as a collection of inter-organisational relationships of a specific quality. The quality of relationships is determined on the principles and values, trust, commitment and consistency, which are common to all companies in the supply chain. Inter-organisational relationships of a specific quality allow companies of supply chain to achieve shared goals and the resultant mutual benefits. 

The polyene macrolide filipin was isolated in 1955 from the cell culture filtrates of Sterptomyces filipinensis, and was later shown to be a mixture of four components [36]. Although too toxic for therapeutic use, the filipin complex has found widespread use as a histochemical stain for cholesterol and has even been used to quantitate cholesterol in cell membranes [37]. The flat structure of filipin III, the major component of the filipin complex, was assigned from a series of degradation studies [38]. Rychnovsky completed the structure determination by elucidating the relative and absolute stereochemistry [39]. The total synthesis plan for filipin III relied heavily on the cyanohydrin acetonide methodology discussed above. 

No planning methodology can be efficient or credible for the synthesis of process operating procedures, if it focuses only on the search for the best plan, delegating the modeling needs and the articulation of the requisite constraints to inferior tasks. The reverse is also true. Consequently, a concise methodology for the synthesis of operating procedures should provide a unified treatment of all three pivotal components, namely...
