The Chart Format

In this format, you fill in a chart to answer the question. When you draw the chart, use the edge of your calculator case to make straight lines. Fill in the blanks with symbols, phrases, or incomplete sentences. The grid forces you to record all answers quickly and makes it unlikely that you will forget to give any part of the answer.

The bullet format is also a very efficient technique because it, like the chart format, does not require complete sentences. In using this format, you essentially provide a list to answer the question. A is a bullet, and each new concept receives one. Try to add your bullets in a logical sequence, and leave room to add more bullets. You may want to come back later and fill them in. Don t get discouraged if you do not have as many bullets as the samples contain — it takes practice. Reviewing the key terms at the beginning of each chapter may suggest additional points that you can incorporate.

A flare performance chart for the hydrocarbon being flared, should be consulted for additional guidelines on flare tip design. Figure 3 provides a provisional performance chart for propane. The chart defines the design envelop of exit velocities and steam ratios necessary to avoide smoke formation, excessive noise, flame boilover and flame lift-off.

The program must require the vendors to measure a number of reference samples and/or duplicates submitted in a planned sequence. It should require prompt measurement and reporting of these data and should maintain the results in a control chart format. Prompt feedback and follow-up of any apparent data discrepancies and reconciliation of the results with control charts maintained by the vendors are required to minimize the length of uncertain performance. The quality assurance plan should include random sampling of the vendors data for their validity and conformance with quality assurance requirements. If quality assurance is properly practiced at all levels, an inspection of 5 percent of the total data output should be adequate.

Examination of the charts in Chapters 6.1.1 to 6.1.3 shows that the American and eastern tropical areas contribute more that the African tropics to the diversity of natural products. If you want to write on the chart, go to the VIEW menu and select TOOLBARS and DRAWING. Select the Text Box tool from the Drawing toolbar, click inside your chart, and you can begin typing words. You can move the words around and change their format. You can draw arrows on the chart with the Arrow tool. If you double click on a data point on the chart, a box appears that allows you to change the plotting symbols. 

Figure 11-9 may be used to obtain an accurate estimate of formation volume factor of an oil at its bubble point if the producing gas-oil ratio, gas specific gravity, stock-tank oil gravity, and reservoir temperature are known.1,3 Reservoir pressure must be equal to the bubble-point pressure of the oil because the value of gas-oil ratio used to enter the chart must represent the solubility of the gas at the bubble point. If reservoir pressure is below the bubble point, some of the produced gas may come from free gas in the reservoir, and the use of producing gas-oil ratio in this correlation will give incorrect results.
