Textile properties tests densities

The behavior of textiles under load (tension, pressure) is an important property. At the beginning of the test, it is mainly influenced by the type of textile, the yarn density, pattern, and so on. With increasing load, the substance behavior of the textiles becomes more and more important. Also, the type of finishing as well as... [Pg.359]

These are carried out in normal textile laboratories in order (1) to ensure that the materials under test have been manufactured in accordance with design specification and (2) to monitor any short, medium, or long-term trends. Such tests are concerned primarily with the area density, fabric sett, yam types and linear densities, fabric structure, air permeability, thickness and density (principally nonwoven fabrics), tensile properties, and fabric stability. [Pg.105]

Fineness (linear density) and the stress-strain behavior are also the most important properties of yarns used for technical applications. The respective test methods are similar to those as described above, but the actual testing devices are often slightly different because the applied loads are normally higher than for textile yarns. [Pg.373]
