FIBERS. The field of fibers is an evolving one. with new technologies being developed constantly. With ihe increasing use of fibers in non-traditional textile applications, such as geoiexliles (qv). fiber-reinforced composites, specialty absorption media, and as materials of construction, new fiber types and new processing technologies can be anticipated. 

The simplest members of this group are those in which X is a monocyclic residue, such as furan, thiophene, and pyrrole ring systems. Color may then be produced in the usual way by attaching auxochromes to the 5- and/or 8-positions. Few dyes of this type have been suggested for textile applications, presumably...

Characterisation of colorants is critical for colour chemists to know what chemical structures the colorant has. Determination of dye classes has its practical significance in making up dyeing and printing recipes as well as in the analysis of historical textiles.

Any novel textile preform type aimed for composites application is not just viewed as a piece of art rather, it is analyzed and evaluated for its potential usefulness and specific properties of practical interest. Depending on the geometric dimensions achievable and the property balance, one or another preform type may get its more or less prominent place in the overall scope of textile preforms for composites. Probably there are some niche applications for 3DD1W preforms in the whole scope of future textile composites, but those still need to be identified, and the structural performance benefits have to be demonstrated.
