Text to Columns...

To import the data resulting from the FOURIER command (as shown in Table 8.3) into a spreadsheet, such as Excel, first, open the output (.out) file. Highlight and copy the data you need in the. out file, and open Excel. After Excel opens, paste the contents into the spreadsheet. The next step should be to pull down the DATA menu and select the TEXT TO COLUMNS command. Follow the steps to convert the pasted data into... 

The Convert Text to Columns Wizard allows you to parse text within Excel, The Wizard is actuated by means of the Text to Columns... command in the Data menu. 

The Text to Columns dialog boxes are essentially identical to those of the Text Import Wizard (see Figure 7-8). The data to be parsed must be in a single column.

NISPEC.DAT is a comma-delimited text file to be used with Excel s Data Parse or Text to Columns menu commands. 

Select all the text in the file and COPY/PASTE into cell A 3 of a new worksheet, figl-9.xls. With luck, the EXCEL software will parse the pasted information into columns A and B of the worksheet. If not, open the TOOLS dropdown on the EXCEL toolbar and select the TEXT to COLUMNS option. Follow the wizard s instructions and the radial mesh data will separate in column A from the numerical wave function data, which will appear in column B. 

The best presentation will have considered text font, color, columns, relationship of text to diagrams, single-sided printing, etc. 

Further elaboration of Eq. (8) can be found in Chapter 4, where slightly different forms will be used for column methods and planar methods. For the present, it should be noted that L does not necessarily refer to column length, even though that is the definition usually used in this text. 

Determine the column diameter. The generally accepted design procedures for sizing randomly packed columns are modifications of the Sherwood correlation. A widely applied version is that developed by the Norton Company. It has been adapted slightly for this text to permit its application to low-pressure systems.

To use the Merge Cells option, select the columns across which you want the text to be centered, as indicated in Figure 1-23. (The text can be in any of the selected cells.)... 

Discuss again the arguments that were used in the text to select control loop configuration 3 for the benzene distillation column. 

Use the periodic table inside the back cover of this text to determine the atomic mass (per mole) or molar mass of each of the substances in column 1, and find that mass in column 2. 

Symbols are identified in the text to the dwell time for the chromatograph (the time it takes a change in mobile phase composition to pass from the gradient mixer to the column inlet) and kz the isocratic retention factor in the terminal solvent for the gradient... 

Run the Herman-Skillman program for the boron atom using the atomic data in Table 1.3. Then transfer the output mesh and rR r) data for each atomic orbital to a new worksheet in a new spreadsheet. Paste the data, as text, into columns A and B starting from cell A 9 as in Figure 1.19. Parse the text data into individual columns of r and rR r) values.

If only the larynx is involved, an externally applied artificial larynx can be used to generate a resonant column of air that can be modulated by other elements in the vocal tract. If other motor skills are intact, typing can be used to generate text, which in turn can be spoken via text-to-speech devices described above. And the rate of typing (either whole words or via coding) might be fast enough so that reasonable speech rates could be achieved.
