We have recently shown that the hydrophobic hexafluorophosphate ILs can in fact be made totally miscible with water by addition of alcohols [47, 48] the ternary phase diagram for [BMIM][PF(3]/water/ethanol (left part of Figure 3.3-7) shows the... [Pg.77]

Present production processes use two stage counter-current extraction to remove americium from molten plutonium with magnesium chloride based salts. Both 35 mole % NaCl - 35 mole % KC1 - 3D mole % MgCl2 and 50 mole % NaCl-26 mole % CaCl2 - 24 mole % Mg Cl 2 are used for americium extraction. Figures 4 and 5 show the ternary phase diagrams for these salt systemsU0). [Pg.386]

Experimental phase diagrams of CO2 with ethyl acetate [37] and alkyl carbonates [38] are also available. Molecular simulations that describe the binary phases diagrams of many organic solvents with CO2 were also recently published [39], Binary phase diagrams of methanol with fluoroform are also available [40], At any given pressure and temperature, fluoroform is more miscible with methanol than CO2. Ternary phase diagrams for a number of systems are also available, such as methanol/H20/C02 [41] acetonitrile/H20/C02, and methanol/H20/fluoroform [40]. [Pg.434]

Alloys are prepared commercially and in the laboratory by melting the active metal and aluminum in a crucible and quenching the resultant melt which is then crushed and screened to the particle size range required for a particular application. The alloy composition is very important as different phases leach quite differently leading to markedly different porosities and crystallite sizes of the active metal. Mondolfo [14] provides an excellent compilation of the binary and ternary phase diagrams for aluminum alloys including those used for the preparation of skeletal metal catalysts. Alloys of a number of compositions are available commercially for activation in the laboratory or plant. They include alloys of aluminum with nickel, copper, cobalt, chromium-nickel, molybdenum-nickel, cobalt-nickel, and iron-nickel. [Pg.26]
