Terms Used in the Tables

The list in Table 4.2 indicates the basic chemical reactivity hazard information that needs to be known for each substance. This is an extension of the information needed for the Preliminary Screening Method of Chapter 3. The Glossary at the end of of this publication gives definitions for most of the terms used in the table. 

The term used in the table is only for general qualitative comparison because the actual properties and cost are determined by the specific composition and manufacturing processing of each material.

The terms used in the equations above are defined in Table 1. The ideal petrophysical responses of each mineral were taken from Rider (1986) and modified slightly according to the distribution of data on At, o and On cross-plots (Table 2). 

Therefore, the V2 term used in the perturbation theory expression and the moments of inertia are directly connected and the quantum mechanical and geometric considerations may be used interchangeably. The examples in Table 5 show that the sign of parallels the differences in the calculated moments of inertia Iz — lx. These moments of inertia have recently been used to classify the shapes of Nan clusters [18].

The copolymerization of vinyl fluoride has been studied systematically only with a few co-monomers. Table I [19, 20, 22, 23] lists some of the reactivity ratios which have been reported. The meaning of the error terms given in the table is, as is so often the case in the chemical literature, not at all clear. It is interesting to note that the same authors, in the same paper, using two different initiator systems now and again report two sets of reactivity ratios which do not always agree with each other even when the error term is added or subtracted. The Q-e values for vinyl fluoride copolymerizations have been reported as Q = 0.010 0.005 e = -0.8 0.2 [10] or g = 0.0084 e = 0.97 [22].

Basically, the viscosity of the pure solvent and of solutions at various concentrations is measured. The terms used in the computation are shown in Table 1-4.
