Synthesis inorganic-organic hybrid materials

Although further studies are needed for a complete understanding of the electrode processes for the formation of the ZnO/dye hybrid structure, it is built up as consequence of free interaction of the constituent molecules and ions as seen in our studies. The use of a solution is essential for such processes. The present technique has widened the horizons for obtaining inorganic/organic hybrid materials. Further studies are expected to achieve the synthesis of various new materials with new and useful properties. 

This approach towards nanostructured inorganic-organic hybrid materials is the first one to allow the synthesis of inverse-topology systems, in which the hydrophobic polymer blocks represent the outside of the microphase-separated structure. After solidification of the inorganic sol, the hydrophobic phase can be swollen with organic solvents. This procedure allows the isolation of colloidal objects, such as spheres or ceramic rods (see Fig. 12), from one another, which are sterically stabilized, because the hydrophihc block is firmly anchored in the ceramic material [45].

Organically modified metal fluorides Silicon oxide and also metal oxide based inorganic-organic hybrid materials have received broad interest academically and also for technical applications [62]. The development of such hybrids aims to combine useful properties of the inorganic part, mostly the basis of the hybrid, with those of the organic part, whereby the two parts are chemically bound to one another. For many years, research efforts in materials chemistry have focused on the development of new methods for materials synthesis. Traditional areas of interest have included the synthesis of catalytic, electronic, and refractory materials via aqueous methods (sol-gel and impregnation) and high-temperature reactions [1-3]. More recent strategies have focused on the synthesis of materials with tailored properties and structures, including well-defined pores, homogeneously distributed elements, isolated catalytic sites, comphcated stoichiometries, inorganic/organic hybrids, and nanoparticles [4-13].
