Switching effects

More care needs to be Itiken when there are a number of such motors connected on the same bus and switched in tandem, lending to multiply the switching effects (Figure I7.20). [Pg.579]

As mentioned earlier in Chapter 5, there are ion-radicals capable of forming hydrogen-bond complexes with neutral molecules. Such complexation significantly changes the redox potential comparatively to that of an initial depolarizer. Of most importance is that the formation of ion-radicals is a reversible process. In other words, the redox-switched effect operates in this host-gnest systems. Scheme 8.5 illnstrates the effect realized in the systems of ferrocene/ferrocenium (Westwood et al. 2004) and of nitrobenzene/the nitrobenzene anion-radical (Bn et al. 2005). [Pg.406]

Fig. 24. Examples of experimental relaxation curves The vertical scales are arbitrary, horizontal scales (x-values) are linear with a single label. In all cases, the axes cross at the origin (0,0). The upper two plots regard a slow-relaxing sample in which the switching effects described in the text are negligible. The bottom two plots regard a very fast relaxing sample in which switching-interval effects are very pronounced. Fig. 24. The transient domain model shown in Fig. 4.33 was used to measure output ripple voltage, transient response, gate voltage, and inductor current. This model properly predicts the cycle-by-cycle switching effects of the regulator. [Pg.87]

The bending motion of the precursor molecule results in a so-called dynamic axis switching effect (53). This effect is connected with a small deviation of the diatomic axis from the equilibrium axis of the bound triatomic molecule. It turns out that this effect is important for large values of j and makes a noticeable contribution to the partitioning of j into diatomic angular momentum and the relative angular momentum of the atom about the fragment. [Pg.130]

Let us mention the case of tetrakis(methyltelluro)TTF [76]. This material is (already) in the quasi-ionic phase at 300 K and it undergoes dimerization below 240 K. Some measured values of the threshold field Eth above which jumps of current density occur are = 300 V/cm at 200 K, = 600 V/cm at 180 K, and = 1100 V/cm at 160 K. Crystals have typical dimensions of 0.8 x 0.8 x 0.2 mm3. This material was also chosen to build a prototype bistable device which utilized the switching effect [76]. [Pg.343]

The data concerning [Rn(phen)2(dppz)] + nicely illustrate the concept of molecnlar light switch (dppz for 28). When the complex is bonnd to DNA, the excited-state lifetime is approximately 200 ns, whereas withont bonnding, it is only 200 ps. This light-switch effect provides the basis for a valuable photophysical probe of nucleic acids. Luminescent characteristics of the complexes bonnd to DNA can also be used to illustrate the chiral discrimination associated with binding to the right-handed hehx. Direct oxidation of... [Pg.4127]

Some evidence supports the idea that a manic or hypomanic episode may be induced in vulnerable padents by and-depressant medic a dons (Goldberg and Truman, 2003). This phenomenon, known as the switch effect, has been clinically observed in many cases. Some data suggest that dreat-ment with anddepressants, pardcularly those with dual acdon at both norepinephrine and serotonin, may precipitate a manic episode in bipolar padents (Stoner et al., 1999 Shulman et al., 2001 Yuksel et al., 2004). Though widely accepted from a clinical perspecdve, this phenomenon is sdll somewhat con-d oversial from a research perspecdve. [Pg.502]
