Surface treatment chemicals plating solutions

Chemical conversion processing is a type of surface treatment that consists only of a chemical reaction. In this respect, metal is immersed in a solution where it dissolves slightly, and an insoluble corrosion product, or an oxide film forms simultaneously on the surface. Examples of such films are corrosion resistant films, undercoat films, and lubrication films. Examples of chemical conversion processing are phosphating and chromic acid treatment. The following is an example of the use of a LCA in the phosphating of zinc plates. [Pg.247]

Once the secondary thiol treatment was finished, the chemically patterned template was immediately put on the rotating plate of a spin coater (Specialty Coatings Systems G3P-8) prefilled with high purity nitrogen gas and a droplet of polymer solution, such as 1 wt% PS in DMF, 1 wt% PAA in DMF, or 1 wt% PS/PAA with 70/30 ratio in DMF, was placed on the top of the pattern area of the template. After remaining quiescent for 5 minutes, the polymer solution was spin-coated on the template surface with 3000 rpm... [Pg.308]

Electroless plating. Electroless plating is a siuface treatment process that does not require electric current, as does electrolytic plating. Electroless plating deposits a dissolved metal, such as copper or nickel, on the surface of a plastic part through the use of a chemical solution (Fig. 9.34a). Also, any plastic part to be plated mth the electrolytic process must first be electroless plated to create a conductive surface. [Pg.822]
