Trimethyltin perrhenate, Me3SnRe04, forms a supramolecular array based upon Sn-O-Re-O zigzag chains, with trigonal bipyramidal, five-coordinate tin and oxygen atoms in axial positions the Sn-0 interatomic distances are 2.293 and 2.302 A [562], The diphenyltin derivative of perrhenic acid is a ladder type tetra-nuclear supermolecule, [(Re04)SnPh20SnPh20H]2, 189, as already encountered in other hydroxo tin derivatives. The Sn-0 interatomic distances are in the range 2.008-2.238 A [563]. [Pg.179]

Double-chain supramolecular arrays based upon N-H- Cl hydrogen-bonds are present in (8-aminoquinoline-Af,A )dichlorodimethyltin [78]. [Pg.332]

Other supramolecular structures such as dendrimers have also been synthesized with zinc-containing porphyrins. Sixteen free base and sixteen zinc porphyrin units were added at the fifth generation of dendritic poly(L-lysine) and intramolecular fluorescence energy transfer was observed.823 Assembly of supramolecular arrays in the solid state has been achieved with the incorporation of an amide group for hydrogen bonding. Zinc meso-tetra(4-amidophenyl)porphyrin... [Pg.1219]

Nucleobases and nucleosides are common motifs for hydrogen-bonded supramolecular arrays. Ng et al. first reported a series of phthalocyanine-nucleobase conjugates [64], The tetra-adenine phthalocyanine 64 was prepared by standard <9-alkylation of zinc(II) tetrahydroxyphthalocyanine with 9-(2-bromoethyl)adenine in the presence of K2CO3. The fluorescence of 64 is quenched substantially upon addition of thymine-substituted 9,10-anthraquinone 65, and the rate is much faster compared with that for the situation when the unsubstituted 9,10-anthraquinone is used as the quencher. These results suggest that 64 forms a supramolecular complex with 65 through the Watson-Crick base-pairing interactions. [Pg.190]

While supramolecular chemistry of porphyrins has been extensively studied over the last few decades, related study of phthalocyanines is still in its infancy. Despite the great potential of phthalocyanine-based supramolecular arrays in various applications as mentioned earlier, only a handful systems have been reported so far. Self-assembled systems held by hydrogen bonding, donor-acceptor interactions, and host-guest interactions are still very rare. There is certainly much room for further investigation in the chemistry of this important class of compounds, particularly on their structural and functional aspects. We hope this article can provide the grounding for further studies. [Pg.207]

Molecules with silanol functions are known to form supramolecular arrays in the solid state (linear polymeric chains, 2D-sheets or layers, 3D-networks) based on intermolecular H-bonding between Si-OH groups like the one described in Scheme 4 for dialkyl-silanediol [18],... [Pg.236]

Precursors based on Mo2" + and Rh2" + cores have been used in combination with dicarboxylate linkers to construct supramolecular arrays. Dimer-of-dimers, trimer-of-dimers (molecular triangles), and tetramer-of-dimers (molecular squares) have been prepared using this approach. Judicious selection of precursors and linkers are essential for the successful synthesis of the desired molecular architectures. A total of twelve dimer-of-dimers (100-111) of general formula [(DAniF)3M02]O2C-X-CO2M02[(DAniF)3] (DAniF = A,A -di(/ -anisyl)formamidinate) have been synthesized in which two M02 units are connected by bridging dicarboxylates. These compounds were prepared in one-pot reactions (Scheme 27). It is important to note that the six equatorial positions of the precursors are blocked in order to... [Pg.5708]
