Comprehensive data on prices paid for vaccines by the U.S. government during the period 1992-2002 were obtained from two different sources the Federal Supply Schedule (published by the Veterans Administration) and the Centers for Disease Control.

Supply chain planning at the operational level is, in essence, supply scheduling that occurs on a facUity-by-facihty basis. As such, separate but coordinated schedules are generated for plants, warehouses, distribution centers, and vehicle systems. Planning at this level differs from tactical and strategic levels in that demand actually exists—that is, orders have been placed. These orders need to be scheduled based on the immediate state of resources (i.e., materials, equipment, and labor). The diverse nature of facilities means that the specifics of optimization vary widely at this level, but the objective typically is to maximize throughput in a given facility. 

In addition, mass customization can also improve inventory and supply chain management efficiency. As mass customization is a make-to-order process, usually products are only made when the purchase order is placed. Thus, the shift from made-to-stock to made-to-order can significantly improve the production and supply scheduling and reduce the inventory cost and the risks of investment in materials and product development that will not encounter the preference of consumers. Furthermore, mass customization can be conducted online in some cases, so that many providers even sell shoes completely online without any physical stores, such as Zappos. This strategy can further reduce the operation and rental costs by online direct channel sales and increase the profit margin rate (Tseng et al. 2003). Even for those providers still with physical stores, they no longer have to show a full inventory of selection in all stores.

In order to avoid conflicts the scope of supply and services has to be described in as much detail as possible. At first the scope of supply has to be determined. Here, the battery limits can be described, where it is sufficient to say that within these battery limits, the contractor has to supply everything necessary to ensure the proper operation of the plant. A battery limit often stipulated is Im in front of the building , i.e. the plant manufacturer has to supply everything included in this area. In addition, a listing in the form of a supply schedule may be integrated in the contract. For this purpose, the possibly amended supply schedule of the plant manufacturer s quotation can be used.
