Flipper fantasies come true at the Roatan Institute of Marine Sciences (RIMS). Adjacent to (and owned by) Anthony s Key Resort, the facility supports longterm research on the health of local coral reefs, and operates an extensive dolphin program that offers various levels of interaction with I 5 of the charming marine mammals — many of which were born at RIMS. Enjoy basic "encounters," lagoon swims or even scuba dive with the dolphins in open water on a reef tour. RIMS (800-227-3483 anthonyskey.com) also runs a summer camp where kids 5 to 14 learn about the animals through feeding and training sessions. 

Special high school programs, classes, or teachers are important influences for African American males (Moore 2006). Men and minority students were more likely to mention summer camps or other special programs providing an early introduction to math, science, and engineering. In their response to our survey. Black and Hispanic students were more likely to say that pre-college outreach training was helpful to them (70% and 57%, respectively) than were White students (46%).
