Benzisothiazolin-3-one 1,1-dioxide, sodium salt Crystal-lose E954 sodium o-benzosulfimide soluble gluside soluble saccharin sucaryl sodium. [Pg.641]

Some special dietetic packs are prepared with artificial sweeteners. Saccharin, benzoylsulfonic imide has been used since the eighties of the last century. More recently a new nonnutritive substance, sucaryl, the sodium salt of cyclohexane-sulfonic acid, has been produced in two forms—Sucaryl sodium and Sucaryl calcium. The calcium type is proposed for those whose ordinary salt ration should... [Pg.77]

The first evidence about possible health effects of ingesting cyclamates was announced in 1969. Scientists reported that they had fed eighty rats a diet that contained large amounts of Sucaryl , a product containing saccharin and sodium cyclamate, every day for two years. At the end of that time, twelve of the eighty rats had developed bladder cancer. Based on this study, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decided to ban the use of cyclamates as food additives. [Pg.743]
