Zraras-aziridine products were still detected from r/.v-olefin substrates, and sometimes as the predominant product. Current results on silver-catalyzed nitrene transfer reactions, indicate that silver probably can interact with iminoiodanes to generate a silver nitrene precursor. This precursor can lead to reactions via either a concerted metal nitrene or a stepwise radical pathway, depending on the substrate and reaction conditions (Scheme 6.8). 

Free radicals mentioned in this chapter are not useful for organic synthesis. However, it is important to know the radical character of metal hydride reagents, since metal hydride reagents sometimes behave not only as a polar (ionic) hydride donor species, but also a single electron donor species, depending on the substrates and reaction conditions. 

On the other hand, the deposition of metal layer on polymer surface is more problematic because the adhesion of metal deposition on a polymer surface is not so simple depending on how the metal layer is deposited, and also on the structure of the deposited metal layer. Metallized insulators such as polymeric and ceramic materials are widely used in the appliance, automotive, and electronics industries. Metallization of nonconducting substrates is technically difficult because of the structural incompatibility between the substrate and metallizing material, in terms of both chemical bonding and properties. The abrupt mismatch at the interface between them has been blamed for the major portion of failures of metallized parts under operating conditions. 

Detailed investigations into the mechanism of reaction between alkyl halides and metals have concentrated primarily on systems of great practical interest the Grignard reaction, the Direct Process Reaction, and a. few others. Whereas research reported in the preceding section involved solely pure gaseous halides and pure metals as single crystals, mechanistic investigations have involved a much wider variety of substrates and reaction conditions.
