Subject zoning

Most recovery boilers use 63,5 mm OD carbon steel tubes in the generating bank. With a few exceptions these tubes are swaged at the ends to 50,8 mm. When the 63,5 mm raw tube is manufactured it is subject to a lot of specifications i.e. ASME. There are no specifications for the swaged end of the tube. This is unfortunate as the swaged part of the tube is subjected to further mechanical deformation dtuing the rolling procedure and is located in a wastage zone of tire recovery boiler. [Pg.1034]

Transmission of Forces As pressure is applied to a powder in a die or roll press, various zones in the compact are subjected to differing intensities of pressure and shear. Damage will be confined to the bubble-collapse region, usually immediately downstream of the low-pressure zone. Detection and result The chromatogram was dried in a stream of warm air for 10 min, immersed in the reagent solution for 3 s and then subjected to intense UV radiation (high pressure lamp, A = 365 nm) for up to 10 min. Terephthalic (hRf 0 - 5), pimelic (hRf 55), suberic (hRf 60), sebacic (hRf 65 — 70) and benzoic acids (hRf 70 — 75) together with sorbic, malic, adipic, citric, tartaric, lactic and fumaric acids only exhibited a reaction on silica gel layers at higher concentrations. 4-Hydroxybenzoic, salicylic and acetylsalicylic acids fluoresced light blue after irradiation. The combined effects of a divalent Ca counterion and thermal treatment can be seen from studies of PMMA-based ionomers [16]. In thin films of Ca-salts of this ionomer cast from methylene chloride, and having an ion content of only 0.8 mol%, the only observed deformation was a series of long, localized crazes, similar to those seen in the PMMA homopolymer. When the ionomer samples were subject to an additional heat treatment (8 h at 100°C), the induced crazes were shorter in length and shear deformation zones were present. This behavior implies that the heat treatment enhanced the formation of ionic aggregates and increased the entanglement strand density. The deformation pattern attained is rather similar to that of Na salts having an ion content of about 6 mol% hence, substitution of divalent Ca for monovalent Na permits comparable deformation modes, including some shear, to be obtained at much lower ion contents. [Pg.149]
