The primary parameter AUCo-oo was subjected to an analysis of variance (ANOVA) including sequence, subject nested within sequence (subject (sequence)), period and treatment (non-fasting/fasting) effects. It is now relatively easy to use sequence analysis software to interrogate databases for similarity of a new, or query sequence to existing sequences in the database, and to assess the degree of similarity with the subject sequences identified. The process of comparison involves the use of algorithms, which are dearly defined rules or criteria, which the comparison programme executes. The algorithms used depend on the nature of the problem and the type of comparison attempted.

To ensure that the format of the QRNA output is compatible with sRNAPredict2, the BLAST comparison must be conducted as described in Subheading 2.4.2. with the species of interest entered first (as the subject sequence) and the partner species entered second (as the query sequence) in the command-line.
