Another aspect of these endeavors is the provision of materials and devices to accommodate the services. Surveyors, for example, require surveying equipment such as transit levels and laser source-detectors in order to function. Similarly, construction contractors typically require custom-built roof trusses and other structures. Graphics and game design companies often subcontract needed programming expertise. Numerous businesses and industries exist, or can be initiated, to provide needed goods. 

Thermogravimetric analysis. From fig. 6 it follows that the addition of carbon black to the elastomer composite increased its thermal stability. This is due to the improved thermal conductivity of vulcanizate achieved by the addition of the filler. The mass decrement is lowest for polymer filled with carbon black with the highly branched structure (FW200, Printex). This phenomenon is probably caused by the higher graphicity level of this types of carbon black [6]. 

Various calibration schemes similar to those given in Section 2.2.8 were simulated. The major differences were (1) the assumption of an additional 100% calibration sample after every fifth determination (including replications) to detect instrument drift, and (2) the cost structure outlined in Table 4.6, which is sununarized in Eq. (4.2) below. The results are depicted graphically in Figure 4.5, where the total cost per batch is plotted against the estimated confidence interval CI(X). This allows a compromise involving acceptable costs and error levels to be found.

In the fifth step of an X-ray structure determination the electron density map is calculated using the intensities and phase information. This map can be thought of as a true three-dimensional image of the molecule revealed by the X-ray microscope. It is usually displayed as a stereoscopic view on a computer graphics system (Fig. 3-22). It is also often prepared in the form of a series of transparencies mounted on plastic sheets. Each sheet represents a layer, perhaps 0.1 ran thick, with contour lines representing different levels of electron density. 

Early on, it was anticipated that many repetitive calibrations and EMF measurements would be carried out in the evaluation of a large quantity of electrodes. The first microcomputer-based automated titration system utilizing high level software (CONVERS) hastened these studies (10), as did a more recently constructed minicomputer system (Figure 1). Typical results are shown in Figure 2, where a set of five protriptyline CWEs were calibrated simultaneously (11). Graphic side-by-side comparison of different electrode calibrations was also useful in establishing structure-selectivity relationships.
