The kinetics are the same in sulphuric and phosphoric acid media as in perchloric acid. The main kinetic features are reproduced in a nitric acid medium although a term, k[Ag(II)]V[Ag(I)], is also involved. Both terms include a strong inverse acidity dependence however, the role of the nitrate ions obscures this. [Pg.365]

A complex was detected in these solutions with the composition CuCN but this was not formed in significant quantities under the conditions employed. The role of ammonia molecules could not be assessed, although it was found that the rate showed a strong inverse dependence in ammonia concentration, indicating competition between NHj and CN for coordination sites. [Pg.411]

On the other hand, per capita group membership was strongly inversely correlated with all-cause mortality. Level of group membership was also a predictor of coronary heart disease, malignant neoplasms, and infant mortality. [Pg.77]

Bilger has documented ozone and other oxidant measurements in Australia and compared them with those in other cities. Table 4-6 shows the portion of hours during which threshold concentrations were exceeded in Sydney in 1971, 1972, and 1973. Low concentrations were recorded before 1970, probably because of the proximity to nitric oxide emission sources in the central portion of the city. It is also noteworthy that, despite the calm conditions and strong inversion in the winter months (in the Southern Hemisphere), high-oxidant days were relatively infrequent. Figure 4-8 outlines this seasonal variation in oxidant concentration. In Melbourne, Australia, however, a high-ozone episode was observed during... [Pg.138]

Archived lithogeochemical data was obtained from four diamond drill holes (DDH) in the Plymouth Fe-Mn deposit. The Fe/Mn ratios from these cores were found to decrease sharply at the lower contacts between the Mn siltstone and surrounding strata. A strong inverse correlation between AI2O3 and Fe203 + MnO occurs within the manganiferous siltstone (Fig. 2). [Pg.337]

There is a strong inverse correlation between n and the progress in the planarization as well as the progress in the C-Y bond contraction. The relatively small Aa /Aa° values indicate substantial retention of the sp3 character of the a-carbon that is particularly pronounced for CH3C=CH which has the largest n value, but still appreciable for CH3NO and CH3CH=S which have the smallest n values. [Pg.268]

At this point, we assume that the surface potential is given by the condition of strong inversion. [Pg.361]

The model simulates an experimentally observed trend (25) that the solubility of chains in a SCF shows a strong inverse dependence on the molecular mass of the polymer. Figure 5 shows that changing the molecular weight of the chain molecule from 100 to 700 causes a reduction in solubility of nearly 6 orders of magnitude. The model also shows that all the solubility plots tend to flatten out around 300 bar, as observed in experiments (25). Classical EOS like a modified cubic EOS (2JD > when applied to such systems, produce solubility curves which tend to show a sharp maximum around 200 bar. For polymer-SCF systems, therefore, the lattice EOS is believed to be superior to modified cubic EOS. [Pg.99]
