Storage ground piling

Consider the explosion of a propane-air vapor cloud confined beneath a storage tank. The tank is supported 1 m off the ground by concrete piles. The concentration of vapor in the cloud is assumed to be at stoichiometric concentrations. Assume a cloud volume of 2094 m3, confined below the tank, representing the volume underneath the tank. Determine the overpressure from this vapor cloud explosion at a distance of 100 m from the blast using the TNO multi-energy method. [Pg.276]

In the past, landfills have been the preferred method of waste tyre disposal because burial eliminates the fire hazard associated with above-ground storage, as well as the unsightliness of tyre piles. However, problems with this method have become increasingly apparent. Because of their composition, tyres are neither decomposable, nor can they easily be compacted (Blumenthal 1993). Therefore, tyres occupy large volumes of landfills, contributing to the already prevalent problem of landfill crowding. [Pg.477]

Numerical simulation of heat storage of solar-ground concrete pile... [Pg.277]

ABSTRACT In this paper, established the mathematical model of the process of thermal storage in the solar-ground concrete pile. It adopted finite element methods to numerically simulate the unsteady-state temperature field of concrete pile that around the underground vertical tube, given the calculated format of different boundary condition, analyzed the temperature variation rule of the concrete around heat exchanger. This paper provided reference basis of ascertain method about the bury depth of the vertical U-tube and the mix proportion of the concrete pile. [Pg.277]

Salt is also lost in rainwater runoff. Crusting of the surface of the pile by accumulation of insolubles actually helps to limit this loss. The storage pad should be sloped at least 1-2% to remove drainage to a catchment efficiently and to prevent accumulation of surface water [29]. At the same time, the slope should be limited to about 5% [30], above which operation of equipment like front-end loaders can become unstable. On large pads, ditches and pipes can improve drainage. The drainage should be away from any adjacent ground-water system. Otherwise, it can follow the terrain. [Pg.493]

There are many types of storage facilities ranging from simply piling the grain on the ground to modern facilities where the grain is maintained under controlled gas atmospheres (Sauer 1992). [Pg.139]
