Steel beams floors

As in the case of the reinforcement of brick-cement floors, the reinforcement of steel beam floors is also usually realized using pultruded sheets because of the easier procedure nevertheless, the use of fabrics is also possible. The width of sheets depends on the joist geometry and particularly on the necessary reinforcement area. Several overlapping sheets may be used, but it is recommended not to use too many sheets, in order to prevent intersheet debonding phenomena. The same can be said with regards to overlapping fabrics. [Pg.140]

Steel-pr. Precast oncrete-joist Floors. This is another light-load type of floor. The floor joists are spaced 12 to 30 in. on center and support a steel mesh on which a 2- or 3-in. concrete slab is poured. The joists span 4 to 32 ft and are supported by concrete or steel beams or girders. [Pg.321]

Intermediate floors within the building and the roof are reinforced concrete slabs supported by structural steel beams. [Pg.36]

Apparently a vault had been constructed around the superstructure of the furnace. It was 4.5 x 6 m in cross section and 4 m high. It was constructed of 20-cm-wide flange beams on 0.8 m (front) and 1 m (sides) centers faced on both sides with 10-mm steel plates and filled with dry sand. The explosion displaced the walls about 6 cm. The top of the vault which was supported by a 30-cm beam on top of a 20-cm beam was deflected about 8 cm. Steel doors mounted to slide in angle-iron tracks were blown off. A number of 1.9-cm bolts holding the door tracks were sheared cleanly. The furnace was driven down into the concrete floor and a penetration of some 10 cm was measured. [Pg.185]

The top surface of a beam that requires fireproofing need not be fireproofed when that beam supports steel flooring or piping. [Pg.260]

Because of the heavy weight of lead shields and steel stands, the counting room should always be on the ground floor. Even with this stipulation, the floor should be built of high density concrete with imbedded I-beams for increased support. Some laboratories use a thick steel plate under the equipment footprint to distribute the weight over a larger area. [Pg.276]

The beams had short dowels cast in them at regular intervals to make the beam to floor connection. The outer edging beams had dowels to fix the cladding and were rebated to receive the floors. The floor was a coffered unit covered with li in of concrete. On each end of the floor plate were two U-shaped recesses with exposed steel bars across the open end. These recesses fitted over the dowels left in the beams and were concreted in on site. [Pg.318]
