Antioxidants staining

Use of a good antioxidant is recommended for almost all neoprene compounds where color is not of importance, a staining antioxidant can be used. The substituted or hindered phenols, eg, Naugawhite (Uniroyal) and Antioxidant 2246 (American Cyanamid), are used where a minimum of product discoloration or staining is requited. [Pg.256]

Staining antioxidants such as AJ-isopropyl-AT-phenyl-/>-phenylenediamine [101-72-4] (36) are preferred for the manufacture of tires (see also Amines, AROMATIC, PHEN YLENEDI amines). These potent antioxidants also have antiozonant activity and retard stress cracking of the vulcanized rubber. Carbon black (qv), used in tires for reinforcement, hides the color developed by the antioxidant. According to use requirements, up to 3% of an amine antioxidant having antiozonant activity is added prior to vulcanization. [Pg.232]

Additin 30. [Miles/Polysar Rubber] Phenyl-a-naphthylamine staining antioxidant for rubber tech, goods and heavily stressed goods andflexcrack-ing t ent for NR and IR storage stabilizer for petrol, prods. [Pg.7]

Analysis of the oxidation products of chain-breaking antioxidants from the group of dihydric phenols reveal that quinoid compounds are involved in the mechanism of their action. Due to the formation of benzoquinones and hydroxybenzoquinones, the dihydric phenols are staining antioxidants. This fact reduces the technical importance of this in other ways very interesting group of antioxidants. [Pg.107]

Method of synthesis solvent, monomer and catalyst (all high purity) are added to reactor, polymerization is stopped by addition of catalyst deactivator, and rubber protected by addition of a non-staining antioxidant ... [Pg.440]

Butylated reaction product of p-cresol and DCPD Physical Form Off-white powder or tan flakes An outstanding non-staining antioxidant. Highly active, low water solubility and virtually non-volatile giving long term protection under severe conditions. Extremely effective in latex compounds and due to its high activity can be used at low concentrations. [Pg.94]
