In addition, the MW Auger peak (kinetic energy = 351.6eV) from Ag core, corresponding to short observation depth, appeared in the hybridized NCs, which suggests the existence of interspace between poly(DCHD)-shell and some part of Ag core [49]. Poly(DBF) is a vinyl polymer and is kin of polystyrene, a versatile and durable material unlike the other jc-stacked polymers. However, poly(DBF) and its derivatives have characteristic structural and functional features that are not known for polystyrene and its analogues and can be recognized, in the context of this chapter, as a polyethylene derivative which creates an ordered alignment of fluorene, a chro-mophore molecule. From the conclusion of the disordered system, it may be assumed that intramolecular charge transfer is faster than the bulk mobility characterized by H=2.1 X10 cm V" s". This idea is supported by cyclic voltammetry measurements of poly(DBF) where the oxidation potential for the poly(DBF) was significantly lower than that for fluorene, a model of monomeric side chain as discussed in the preceding section. This indicates that a hole may be readily delocalized over the x-stacked fluorene groups in the side chain, leading to fast intramolecular charge transfer. The ordered molecular structure of the it-stacked poly(DBF) may act as a charge transport pathway. [Pg.34]

The idea of stacking monoradicals with S = 1/2 and di- or poly-radicals with 5 > 1 in mixed crystals was proposed by Buchachenko (Buchachenko, 1979).
